"War Horse" was written by Michael Morpurgo. This is a fiction, adventure and animal story. It is a tragic, shocking and really satisfying story about a horse called Joey who is sold to the army. It is also about friendship and war.

The story, narrated in 1st person, is written through the eyes of Joey. It is set in the 1st World War. The incredible horse (Joey) meets lot of people and horses including: Albert, David, Emily, Topthorn, Coco, Captain Nichols and Friedrich.

My favourite part is the moment when we meet Emily's Grandfather for the second time. This is an important moment that made me feel happy. Another scene that I really enjoyed was when Joey got caught in No Man's Land and a German and British soldier came to talk. But I won't tell anymore because it will spoil the story!

I couldn't stop reading this book because it's a really interesting story. Also it's really heartbreaking. Because during the war a lot of Joey's friends die and have to work hard. There is a lot of misery. However, the story is engaging and there is a happy moment too.

In my opinion this book should be read by 9 to 13 year olds. Also children will be delighted with it because you're going to fall in love to Joey like I did!
